Technologies within a different subjects

For be a social scientist, you must know and read always, about differents theories and news investigations, pappers, etc. But if you want be a social scientis, not only you need read in a lot or be the most in mannager the theories. The social scientis is a social researcher too. And in addition to know the theoricals element, in the university the estudent of social sciences have learned to use differents methodologies and technologies, that will be a great help in the futures investigations, in studies of master's degree, and its will be a adventage when you found a job.


In anthropology, you can do qualitative or cuantitative researchers, because in this carreer you learned this methodologies. This year (third year in the career) I have chose some methodology subjects that teach some technologies for the social investigation, like scientifics software. In Qualitatives methodology, besides of learned to do “life history” and “focus group”, I have learned to use an scientific software called “Atlas ti”. This is a program that help in recopilate and organize the qualitative information. For this, after the interviews or focus groups, you transcribe the collected information and put it in the software. Next, the work is yours and the atlas ti help in organizer and show the information simple and tidy. In the others methodologies, like cuantitavives methods, you learn to stadistic informations. Using the technology you will obtain great result. In statistic subjet or cuantitatives methods, you use the software SPSS, in the most important and popular program for the scientific informations. In this subject, we pick up the survey database of important institutes of social investigations, like the CEP survey, an opinion poll about politics preferences, economics dates, public delinquency, and amongs other.In the SPSS you can “play” whit the dates, because you can correlate differents variables and mix them, and make analyse.


In a whole, I can say this year I have learned differents technologies that help me in the investigations. The use of this program make a difference in the researchers, because you could be most ready and competent for diferents works. In anyway, I have so much for learn still, and this programs are the basis in the social researches. Furthermore, are advantage that help me in a choose some subject that I could to dedicate in the futures jobs.

Music

The sound of music.
Well, about music… I really like the rock in a whole, but my favourites kinds of music are: (electric) Blues and Death Metal, two kinds very diferents apparently. But both share somethings points, like the electric guitars, the simple melody but with much expertly and talent, and the emotivy lyrics and melodies. My favourites band or singer, in this case, are: in Blues, I like Fleetwood Mac, an old britanic band of 1969 to 1971. They have maked two or three almbums with song very populars, like “Black Magic Woman” by Peter Green (past member). Fletwood Mac are active still, but with others members and now a kind of music is very different . My favourite Singer blues is Buddy Guy, an american and black musician very expertly in play the guitar. In the death metal, my favorite band called “Obituary”. Many people say that the metal are noise, and bad noise, but I think the opposite. Obituary, in the death metal are different in a bit, because the voice of the vocals member isn´t gutural, but more clear and humanly.

I like these bands and singles because those kinds of music make me feel very good. Their are so moving that I can say these songs are the most exciter that I have listened.
I got all the discography of Obituary, but no every I have bought. Similar with Buddy Guy and Fleetwood Mac, many CDs I have downloaded its online, expecially the blues, because somethings bands are very old and is a lot of difficult to find them.
The last year, I can saw my favourite band: Obituary were in Chile in april 28th. It Was amazing! Firts, I couldn´t went to see them, because I asked permission to my mother months ago, she said “NOT”. But, the same day before the recital, I called to my mom and we talked about that. She was worried for me, because in the recital I had to be careful (I went alone). Finally, I could went and I was very happy.

In general, the music I like very much, but I don`t play any instrument. Never I have learned something. I woud like to learn the electric gruitar, are fantastic the melodies that you could do. I hope so I can play the guitar some day. I will try play my favourite blues song. The music is very important in my life, it left me of the study and the problems,the music keep me company when I study, it change me the day and cheer me up.

Cinema!

Of course, I like the cinema, but it´s been ages that I don´t go it.

May be that my last movie watched in the cinema was “Volver”, by Pedro Almodovar, but was in 2007! Now I remember that I went, the last year, to Viña del Mar and together with a old friend we went to a festival of short films and documentary in the municipal Theatre. That time we watched “Malta con huevo”, a chilean film very nice and funny.

In a whole, I`m not fans of cinema or Films, I am lazy for sit and watch a film.

Sometimes, a partner mine shares hers Films with me, but I take a long time in return it. My sister is filmlover, but never watch Films together. One time, a few months later, I gave to my sister a trilogy Films. Its are “Three colours: Blue, White and Red”. But only we watched the first, “blue”. Those Films I don´t have rented, but I copied its.

My favorite film is “Forrest Gump”, an american movie of 1994. This movie is about the nice and beauty Forrest`s life, a man while not intelligent but accidentally he has been present at many historic moments, like Vietnam war, Hippie revolution, the murder of Kennedy and Martin Luther King, among others. Forrest had a exceptional life. When he was a child, he used to walk whit crutch, but he could left it, and run very fast for a long time (is famous the phrase "Run, Forest, Run", he never will leaves of run). Forrest went to university, he won ping-pong competitions, he traveled to China, He went to the war and back, he makes a guinness records after ran for days, months and years...and always he is helpful with everybody.This story is lovely, I really like this movie and I watched like five times yet.

Good points in this movie may be the places, the historic moments that Forrest live and theirs are very important in the second half of last century in the world. Also, the music of Forrest Gump was created for this movie and appear too famous song of bands like CCR, The Doors, Jimi hendrix Experience, Canned Heat, Fletwood Mac, and among others. I like very much this bands.

I recommend this movie because, even thought is a fictitious story, is near of the reality. It show the real life of a simple man living in the hard real world . This story is the most beautiful, more lovely and you will cry many times along the movie.

I will watch it again and again...

What to do /Where to go in Santiago?

Im not from, Santiago. I was born and bred in Rancagua. When I finish the secundary school, I could come here because I began to study in the university. Really, I knowed Santiago, but for a bit, because when i was 10 years, I came here with my mother to visit the dentist, but in that travels arround Santiago, I didn´t learn to take the bus or the underground, I was a child and very unconcerned of the city.
I arrived to Santiago in 2006, a year before transantiago, and I can say that I saw the city trough the yellows buses. In the big santiago, you can kwon new places taking a bus, that is my form to see it. If you want see beautiful old town whit old and classic architectures and streets, you would go to centre Santiago. Between matucana and 5-sur avenues, is the old Santiago centre. If you begun in matucana, you can visit the quinta normal park, or the museums over there. Santo Domingo is the most beautiful street, because is coblesstone in a whole, you can go walking, it´s great!. Then, you arrives the Yungay square, a typicall park in this neighborhood. If you want following walk, you see the Brazil neighborhood, whit the famous park, beautifull places to walk. Next the park, you can eating good plates or drinks in the night. Other places that offer lovely streets you can discover in providencia, Ñuñoa, etc. In Santiago you could visit their parks, but , in a whole, the parks are no good impeccable. The typicals parks are Quinta Normal, O´higgins park, and the Forestal Park. This last, is very beautifull and lovely, it`s near the Mapocho river and you can visit the Beauty Arts Museum. Next there, walking to alameda, you would see the lastarria neighborhood, beauty places and restorants, but more expensives for a student like me. If you walking to north, you will see the San Cristobal hill, and the neighborhood Bellavista, ideal for a drinks whit friends after the work/school. The two places that you must visit are: the Peace square, a beauty place next the General Cemetery, and the Franklin neighborhood, typical and old places with shop and restorants very cheap, but you must take care whit the people. In a whole, Santiago can be a beautyfull and quiet, but you must take care always.

Elisa

Your favorite tv serial.
Really I don´t wacht tv so much, but I don´t lost “Where is Elisa?” after the news on tv. It isn´t my favourite serial, but I don´t watch other.
This is a dramatic and suspense serial that show the terrible when someone lost a family member, in special when is about a teenager or child. This serial is based on the original foreing idea that, according to say somebodies, was inspired on the Madeleine McCan case, the britanic girl lost in Portugal in 2007.
“Where is Elisa” is about the tragedy of a ABC1 chilean family and the police when Elisa, a girl was 16, was taken her from their family when they were in their hosebeach. Elisa was dissappear and they knowed that she was a kidnap victim. This serial is on the TVN channel, after the news (10pm), during on 35min. and keep expectant everybodies the tv audiences everydays.
Their character are the family well-off, very typical of the nocturnal series of tvn, and show the problems in comunication, the avarice, the lies and the problems of the family and the society. The serials does happen in Santiago of Chile.
This seriaI I begun to watch because my sisters are fanatics of the nocturnal serials, and then now always I do watch it alone.
I could reccomend it because is unexpected, and day and day you need watch it, because the suspense is hard and the end is near.

Transantiago: Before and After...

The year I started university was one year before the transantiago. I had got six numbers of buses to went from my house to university, but sometimes take a any bus wasn´t easy. The Yellows buses were faster than transantiago, but sometimes I arrived to my class very late, even when I left early of my house.
The Yellows buses stopped when the driver did want and anywhere. In transantiago system, each bus have got stop bus clearly defined and the santiaguinos have forgot the coins for pay the bus, because we have got the bip!. The bip! is a modern form for pay the bus, is a card with money and you should load to pay the bus or underground. Whit the bip! is much easier go in the public transport, but the driver don´t forgive you if you haven´t money in the card.

Transantiago is more reliabler than the yellows mirrors, but problems in frequency of buses have not been solved. Whit Transantiago you can change from bus to underground or bus to bus in 2 hours without pay again. In added, the information of Transantiago is the best because is clear and tidy in the web page. But of yellow buses I miss somethings: I Could went from my house to the centre, or the bus station only in a one bus, the route of the buses were very long, I traveled the whole city only in a bus.
Now, I take one bus, and after take the underground or other bus, then is more uncomfortable and slow.
However, I haven´t had more problems whit the transantiago (many people hate it because is slow, bad, full in the peak hours and they walk more to arrive to bus stop), I live near the university and haven´t problems to take a bus :P

A country I would like to visit.

Only one time I could visit other country. In May I were to Arica, and I could went to Tacna, Peru. But really, I have always wanted to visit other far countries. I might begin in south america.
Colombia is a one that I would like to visit, because it have beautiful cities, as Medellín. This city is an important town of colombia because means the development of a town in few years. Also, Colombia have an architecture very special, because it conserve yet colonial villages, traditional streets and old cities once the virreinato of Granada. Besides, in Colombia I can visit the mountains of the Andes, rainforest and old monumenst from Chibcha´s cultures.

Other country, In South america, is Brazil, This country have all to be visited. In special, I would like to go to the colonial towns. There are in the north of Brazil, far away of the capital and the famous Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. Santos, Salvador de Bahia offer beautiful places, old houses and streets with cobblestones. Are beautiful. And for Finish, I couldn´t die in peace if I haven`t visited Argentina.

Buenos Aires is a typical destine of the chileans, as well Bariloche, a lovely town with snow, mountains, lakes and good food! In all of this countries, I might waste all my money in a few days, buying and souvenirs and anythings!

The Firts Term (09)

The last term I began the speciality in my career, the social anthropology, and this did that the term was more difficult, because the subjects were specifics, but I could choose its. Some subjects were hard to bear because i dislike these, other were very interesting and easy. Regarding to the evaluations, in the end of the term were awful. The works in groups and exams were a lot only in a month, its was very hard.However, in this term I had a very good experience. In a subject of Etnology, we went to Socoroma, nert to Arica. We participated in a religious rites in andina cultures, and this was a wonderful experience and the best in the term, and the best in the career so far. Backing around the evaluations, my marks don´t was the better, but I could finish the term not so well. On the whole, the last term was good because I learned other things, the subjects are more near and near of my career and the future job. The third year is hard in my career, because define that you going to do in the future. Nevertheless, I feel so well. I trust that this is my career and I couldn`t be in other.
